The Story Behind the Work
Nothing for Granted began on a trip to New Zealand's South Island, where I first encountered the conservation story of the tīeke (saddleback) — one of the country's most treasured and endangered native birds.
That encounter became the emotional and visual foundation for the piece: a reminder to stay grounded in gratitude for the ordinary moments we tend to overlook.
Translating that into a 29-colour hand-pulled screenprint took an extraordinary level of technical precision from the Artrite Screen Printing team, working layer by layer across archival Fabriano Artistico cotton rag paper to produce all 9 colourways.
It's the kind of work that can only be produced by hand, one colour at a time — which is part of why the finished collection is limited by nature, not just by design.
It's the most technically ambitious hand-pulled screenprint I've released to date — more complex in its colour separation than In Two Minds, and structurally different from the Devotion series.
